If you are experienced with tractor maintenance you can replace blades yourself, but always isolate the machine (park on level ground, switch off engine, remove key and disconnect ignition/spark where applicable) and wear protective gloves. Follow the tractor manufacturer’s instructions for blade removal and fitting. If you are unsure or the replacement requires removal of the cutter deck, have a trained technician do the job.

Inspect the blade regularly for bends, cracks, significant wear or missing material after impacts. Replace the blade if it is deformed, has substantial edge loss or if collecting performance has deteriorated. Routine seasonal inspection is a practical approach; replace as needed rather than to a fixed hours figure.
